Läkerol has a long history of successful export. Already in 1912, Läkerol was the first of our brands to be sold outside Scandinavia. The Ahlgren brothers in Gävle, who started the production of Läkerol, had a clear vision of offering the brand to large parts of the world. Therefore, new markets were established as good as every year. During a long period, all advertising films were wound up with a turning globe and an enumeration of all the countries in which Läkerol was available. Many countries have enjoyed the unique pastille for a long time. In the year 2002, Läkerol celebrated its seventy-fifth year anniversary in Switzerland. Fact is - Läkerol is so well established in Switzerland that a lot of people believe it is a Swiss brand!

Läkerol was not able to succeed in every country where it was launched, but the number of countries where Läkerol is established today is still very impressing. Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Czech, Slovak, Hungary, Baltic, Russia, USA, Canada, Lebanon, China (Hong Kong), Malaysia and Singapore.

In 1957, a candy fish carefully manufactured in the Malaco factory in Malmö crossed the Atlantic Ocean. Swedish Fish was its name and right away it became most appreciated by the North Americans. From the beginning it could only be bought by piece, but as time went on, it was also available in different bag sizes. During the following years, the brand grew successfully, and in the nineties the manufacturing was transferred to Canada. In large parts of the USA, Swedish Fish is today as well known brand as other successful Swedish export products like Volvo and Absolut Vodka. What started as an occasional sale has grown into a gigantic success in the United States.

Swedish Fish has a wonderful consistency, which combines a distinct sugar shelf with a jelly heart. If you are passing the USA we truly recommend you to try it!

When he travels outside Scandinavia, he offers the children different kinds of enjoyment. ”Schnüre Erdbeer” and ”Süsse Pilze” are consumed in great amounts in for instance Germany, Austria and Switzerland, whilst “Strawberry Laces”, “Whips” and “Foam Mushrooms” delight English kids.

In England and Austria, we sell 25 000 respectively 7 500 kilometres of our strawberry laces each year! British kids consume about 27 million foam mushrooms and 30 million whips (or 30 000 kilometres to put it in a different way) a year.
